Witness, Stand! | JOSHUA (Joshua 22)

Maybe you have been a witness to a robbery, a car accident, or someone’s comments. As a witness you may have been called into a courtroom to testify to what you have seen and /or heard. A witness testifies to the truth of something (at least they are supposed to). In Joshua 22 an altar will stand as a witness to the fact that the Lord is God and the tribal brothers need to always remember that. You and I stand as witnesses to a lost and fallen world testifying to the fact of the love, grace, truth and forgiveness of God found in Christ Jesus. And like the brothers who were first offended and assumed the worst about the altar in Joshua, so too will a disobedient world often find our lives and message offensive and assume what is not true. Yet we are still called to stand.
