Life of Christ | Jesus Walks on Water 04/12/2026

“There are three things that all wise men fear: a sea in storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man.” The disciples have been rowing all night, against the wind, and are exhausted and scared. The ever-watchful Jesus sees them from a distance and goes to them, but does so in a way no one expected. It probably would have been less scary for the disciples if Jesus had just appeared in the boat, rather than walking on the water to them. Understandably, the disciples mistake Jesus for a ghost and are terrified, believing their time on earth has run out. But Jesus speaks to them through their fear and reveals a part of himself that draws a line in the sand for the disciples. They respond in two different ways, depending on which version of the story you read. So, the question before us this morning is: How will you respond?
